Most of us try to vacuum the carpets in our home once or twice a week – but even if yours look clean on the surface, grime that’s been tracked into your home for years can be hiding in the fibres beneath. Dust and dirt particles can be pushed deep into the carpet, leaving yours looking dull and worn, especially in high-traffic areas.

That’s why it’s important to book a steam cleaning treatment for your carpets at least once a year. This lifts the dirt and dust from the fibres, removes stains and can leave your carpets looking near-new again. It also keeps them in good condition for longer.

Our low-moisture steam-cleaning system lifts the grime that you can’t extract with a vacuum cleaner – and reduces bacteria in the fibres. It’s ideal for households with pets or allergy sufferers and once dry, your carpets will feel soft, refreshed and fluffier underfoot.

What do you wish homeowners knew about carpet cleaning?

That steam cleaning is far superior to dry cleaning, which is a spinning pad that runs over your carpets to pick up dirt and oils. Dry cleaning can be part of a carpet maintenance routine, but for deep cleaning you want hot water extraction – steam cleaning. This type of cleaning flushes out impurities, dirt and oils trapped in the fibres and on the surface – and gives you a result you’ll be much happier with.

What happens when you book a professional steam clean of your carpets?

Here’s how we make the process easy from start to finish:

1

On your initial call, we’ll ask you what kind of carpet you have – is it wool, synthetic or a blend? If you don’t know (perhaps because you’re renting or bought the house with the existing carpet) we can always assess the fibre or do a quick patch test when we arrive at your home.

2

We’ll also ask you what kind of steam cleaning treatment you’re after. You may just need a maintenance clean, but if there are stains you’d like treated – say from pet accidents or a spilled glass of wine – we’ll need to know that up front. Basic stain removal is included as standard, but stains which are more difficult to remove may incur additional costs. We’ll let you know this when we quote.

3

Getting an overall picture of your space is essential, too – so it’s best to tell us if we need to move furniture, or if the job involves steam-cleaning the bedrooms, living and dining areas, hallways and any carpeted stairs. This will help us figure out how much overall time the job will take so we can factor that into our estimate.

4

When we arrive at your home, we inspect the carpet and check the fibre to ensure we know what we’re treating. Most of our products are wool-safe, which makes them suitable for all carpet types. If we need to prepare the room by moving furniture before the treatment or vacuuming the carpet, we’ll do that first.

5

Once the rooms are set up and ready to be cleaned, we’ll get to work. We have high-standard portable equipment and superior truck-mounted systems – and depending on whether you live in a house or an apartment, we’ll assess during the initial call with you which type is suitable to bring on the day.

6

Once the steam clean has been completed, we’ll advise you on the drying time. You’ll need to ventilate the room and allow your carpets to dry completely before you walk on them or place furniture back. This is usually around 4-6 hours depending on your home’s airflow (wool carpets make take longer than synthetic ones to dry).

Why DIY carpet steam cleaning often goes wrong

You’ve hoovered your carpets hundreds of times – and figure you can probably steam clean them too if you hire the right equipment. However, without training or experience, you could end up with soggy, mouldy carpets, or permanent burns to the pile. Steam cleaning is a more complex process than it looks and a qualified professional will consider everything from the type of carpet you have to the chemicals they can safely use. Doing it yourself just isn’t worth the risk.

Carpet steam cleaning in Sydney – FAQs

Do you offer a same-day service?

We can do a same-day service. It’s best to give us a ring to check our availability and let us know how many rooms are required for the steam clean. That way, we’ll know if we have an appropriate window of time to come that day. If not, we’ll chat to you about another time that’s convenient for you.

Do I need to stay elsewhere overnight after carpet cleaning?

No, not at all. An experienced steam cleaner will use a low-moisture treatment that extracts as much water from the carpet as possible, so while it’s good to open windows and air your home to speed up the drying process, you’ll just need to stay off the carpets as much as possible for 4-6 hours.

Do you charge based on how many square metres the room is?

No, that’s not how we cost a steam cleaning treatment. Our price does take into account the overall size of the space (not the square metres), but also the condition of the carpet and the products that may be required. Plus, if furniture needs to be moved prior to the treatment, we’ll also factor that time into the set-up cost.

Why can’t I walk on the carpet immediately?

When the carpets are drying, they’re going to be moist which means it’s easier for the fibres to attract dirt and grime from your shoes or even shoe polish. For the best result, we advise staying off the carpet until it’s completely dry.
